Naturalization. Is carried out under exceptional circumstances by special Royal Decree.

On state discretion. Applies to persons who resided in the territory of the country for 10 years without violating the laws - but did not know the real conditions of legalization.

Based on optation. Provides for several conditions: guardianship or adoption by the Spaniards, the presence of at least one parent - Spaniard (born in Spain).

Origin. Birth by Spanish parents or on Spanish soil, if at least one of the parents was also born in Spain.

Legal residence in Spain. This condition is most often used to obtain Spanish citizenship. In the most general case requires residence for over 10 years with a residence permit. In some circumstances, you can apply for citizenship after 5 years, and even after a year of residing in the country.
