Slovakia is a little but economically developed country in the Eastern Europe even in terms of the European standards. In Slovakia there are no seas and the Mediterranean seashore but, nevertheless, the tourism industry is developed well in both the resorts of the Western Carpathians and beautiful national parks.
After conducting reforms in Slovakia in 2000-2001, the quality of life increased significantly, and soon the country was accepted to the European Union. Today the Slovak Republic is one of the top twenty investment countries, and the half of German investors considers this country the most profitable for investments. The motor plants in Slovakia manufacture over half a million cars per year!
The Citizen of Slovakia is the EU citizen
In literal sense, the Slovak citizenship opens the door to Europe. According to the legislation of the EU, citizens of the twenty-eight EU countries may move freely within the territory of each EU country and get employed in the country in case there is a vacancy. As for a foreigner, it is very difficult for him/her to get employed, for instance, in Norway, but it is much easier to do, if you have a passport of the Slovak Republic.
Having the Slovak passport, it is possible to freely travel to Canada, the USA, and more than a hundred and fifty countries of the world, not only around Europe!
Carrying out the business activities in the European market is not a problem for the citizen of Slovakia as the EU laws allow doing this. Besides, it is possible to take credits from the European banks on favorable terms.
But it is recommended to obtain the Slovak passport not only for moving freely within the EU territory! There are great conditions for living in Slovakia, namely, healthy ecological situation, many parks both in mountains and plains! The cost of public utility services and rent is lower than that in the Western Europe. So, living in Slovakia is not expensive! On the other hand, the state protects the rights of its citizens at the high democratic level.
The most important thing is that the Slovaks pay less tax, buy cheaper products but at the same time enjoy the same rights and freedoms as the Germans, the British or the French!
Naturalization is one of the ways for obtaining the citizenship
To obtain the citizenship of the Slovak Republic is not easy – it is necessary to be born in Slovakia. However, the child is not granted the citizenship automatically – at least, one of the parents should be the Slovak citizen or should be naturalized in the country.
If the child was born in the country and his/her parents are not the citizens of Slovakia, only then the child is granted the Slovak citizenship.
When the child is born in any place in the world, and one of his parents is Slovak, it may be considered grounds for obtaining the citizenship. The children adopted by the Slovaks become the citizens of Slovakia too.
As for the adults, the best way of obtaining the Slovak passport is naturalization. To be naturalized as a citizen of the Slovak Republic and the EU, it is necessary to meet some simple conditions:
- The applicant must reside for five years in the territory of the country.
- You should demonstrate the good knowledge of the Slovak language (both oral and written). To learn the Slovak language is not difficult, especially, if you live among the native speakers of language.
- It is necessary to submit the document to confirm that you have no criminal record or arrest warrants for the preceding five years.
On the other hand, marrying the citizen of Slovakia supersedes the above-mentioned requirements.
There is one more group of persons who may obtain the citizenship under the individual legal procedures. It concerns the foreigners who contributed significantly to the economy, science or sports. In other words, the businessmen who made big investments to the economy of the country, outstanding scientists and sportsmen may obtain the citizenship without residing in Slovakia for five years and without the knowledge of the Slovak language.
For many years our lawyers have been engaged in the process of obtaining citizenship in all the countries of the world for our clients. It is very difficult to obtain the Slovak citizenship independently but our lawyers, due to their multiyear experience in organizing the various documents for immigration, will do it as soon as possible.
At the moment there is a unique opportunity for the citizens of the Russian Federation, Belarus, and Ukraine to obtain the citizenship of Slovakia just for 6 months, despite some years are traditionally required for doing this!
